Who We Are
RIBC is a coalition of trade associations, chamber of commerce’s and other organizations that represent businesses and employers within the State of Rhode Island. No individual business or employer is eligible to be a member.
The Business Coalition has been operating since 2013 but has been organized recently to comply with the provisions of Section 501(c)(6) of the IRS Code and the Rhode Island Nonprofit Corporation Act (the “Act”). The original members consist of the Board of Directors and has appointed a President and an Executive Committee.
Representation from each member shall be limited to the leaders of the member organization unless approved by the Board of Director.
RIBC develops and helps coordinate legislative and administrative positions on behalf of the coalition but not individual members. Working with the members of RIBC, legislative testimony is developed, endorsed by each individual member and submitted to the appropriate legislative committee or to the Governor. RIBC acts as a lead organizer on behalf of the members of the Coalition to work on specific legislation resolutions. RIBC will coordinate efforts to work with legislative leaders or sponsors on legislation. RIBC does not represent individual members nor will lobby on their behalf.
Individual testimony is offered to the member for endorsement and each member decides to sign on or not to sign on.
Membership to RIBC must be approved by the Board of Directors and an annual dues amount will be required to maintain membership.
